  1. the book i choose or i should said was interduced to was a book called outsiders. i like the book a lot its about two gangs, the socs and the greasers and they fight every time they see each other. the opening of the book started like this. "need a haircut, greaser?" the medium-size blond pulled a knife out of his back pocket and flipped the blade open. just a little sneak peek of what the book is about

The character Thomas and his friends got their memories taken away from a man called "rat man" because there is a outbreak in a diseases and he thinks the cure is in their memories.

  3. I've always heard good things about Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, so I've always wanted to read it. When I read the list of the suggested books, it was pretty obvious what book i was going to choose. The beginning so far has been probably the most funny book I've ever read. There is a lot of underlying humor in almost every page of the book. I really enjoy my choice, and I look forward to finishing it.

  4. I choose Gentleman by Michael Northrop. The cover of the book looked very interesting. I look for a book that is small has good title and the cover has some mystery to it. The book starts super slow and still hasn't picked up yet. Not hooked yet:(

  5. The book I chose to read is Lone Survivor, the eyewitness account of Operation Redwing in Afghanistan. I chose to read this because I really enjoy books about war, especially when it is a true event. Also, I have seen the movie and have always heard that books are better than movies so I thought I would give it a try. The start to Lone Survivor is pretty interesting. Marcus Luttrell, the main character and "lone survivor", is on a huge cargo airplane with his team going to Afghanistan. During the flight, he has large flashbacks moments to talk about where he came from and how he got to where he is. In the beginning and end of each chapter, he is in reality, but in the middle of chapters, he has been talking about his past and upbringing. My initial thoughts are about as I expected, Marcus gets into the action really quick and opens my eyes to what it is like to be a United States Navy Seal.

  6. I chose the book The Rookie Arrives because I couldn't find anything else that seemed to interest me as much. I found this book by starting in the library and walking around looking for something interesting and couldn't find so i came to the room and looked on the shelf and found this one. There was not any specific reason that i chose it other then i figured its about sports so i could understand it a little better. It starts of where with Ted a kid just out of high school going to play baseball for the Royals and he thinks hes going to be playing non stop from the start but he soon learns he is not going to get all that he wants. I would not say im hooked but it is a very interesting read.

  7. I chose the Book of Man a Navy Seal. the reason I chose this book is because it teaches you different skill you might want or might need to know in the future. what I had to do to get my book is at my house. it starts when Derrick (the main character) explains the difference of a man and a male. A man will protect someone els and put themselves in harms way for someone els. A male will sit back and watch it happen instead of helping the person.

  8. The final book I choose to read it The River by Gary Paulsen. I chose this book because I have read this author before and he really stands out to me and I knew this book followed off the previous book I ready by him, Hatchet. Once I started reading I could easily recall all of the parts that were brought up from Hatchet even though its been a great number of years since I actually read it because it starts off with Brian getting a visit from government survival instructors asking him to redo his time in the woods all over again and each memory that was brought up I could remember reading about. I think this will be a great book as I have ad multiple people tell me they enjoyed it and I personally like this author

I chose this book because we had it at my house and my dad said it was a good book. So that is why I picked the book. So far I think this is a good book, in the beginning the book starts out after ww2 in Germany, then it goes to before ww2 where there ww1 pilots are showing kids to fly with a glider. 14. I had chosen to read A Full Life by Jimmy Carter. I have found learning about a President's life story, very fascinating. My dad has a collection of books at home and it was just a mater of finding one to read. I have already read about Ronald Reagan's attempted assassination and I loved the layout of the novel. I personally don't know too much about Jimmy Carter so my instincts told me to read this book. A Full Life, starts off with Carters younger age of him working on the farm with his father. The beginning six pages start off slow but Carter adds his own personals drawings and poems to add vision. The book is starting to get more in depth about his time and the office and the different situations he had to deal with. I am currently liking how there are many different short stories within on. It breaks things up and allows more stories to be shared.

When I talked to Mrs. Broadbent bout that I really enjoyed the book Night so she told me there is a series so I choose the next book. This book is good but I liked Night a lot better. 23. The book I chose to read is Cloaked by Alex Flinn. It's a fairy tale novel in which Johnny meets a princess named Victoriana from Europe. The reason why I chose this book is because I read the first one. Which was a different version of Beauty and the Beast. This book Cloaked, is a different version of Princess and the Frog. Which I am assuming because she has kissed another man that has turned into a frog. So that's probably what's going to happen in this one. Being in a situation like that, turning into a frog... wouldn't be my cup of tea. He should be cautious, and careful as he possibly can be. I wouldn't want to turn into a frog. Not me, not at all. What drew me in was getting to the part about the princess. I've always wanted to be a princess. So I can relate to this book in some type of way.

So the main character is Greg Gaines a high school senior trying to survive high school by keeping a low profile and not try to make any friends, but the only acceptation is his best friend Earl, but that all change one day when he came home from school and his mom told him some bad news about an old friend of his back from Hebrew school that she has leukemia. The reason why I choose this book is I thought it was going to be funny because the main character is trying to survive high school which the book is funny. the process I went through to find my book was Mrs. Broadbent recommend it to me. there isn't a specific reason to why I chose this book. my thoughts about this book is its funny, relates to all high schoolers, kind of inappropriate but so are high schoolers. the book starts off with the main character trying to figure out how to right the book. so far I'm hooked and I cant put the book down because every time I read it, it just want to make me laugh.

So when I heard we got to choose any book at all, I knew I wanted to read this one! My book is about a girl in high school, who was bullied that led her to kill herself. Before she did this, she recorded 13 tapes of herself explaining why is this people made it an easier process for her to take her life away. 3. I read Night for my last book and I enjoyed it the whole way through. I think you made a good choice on wanting to read it this time. It really gives you another view about WW2 and the Jewish camps.

  40. I chose the book Dune. I did not pick it for any other reason than it was on the list provided and that it is a sci-fi book. I am very pleased with my choice so far. The book is basically about Feudalism in space, where lords control entire planets. We follow a boy called Paul. Paul is the son of Duke Leto and we witness the events that go down when lords switch control of planets. Throughout these events a lot of thought provoking stuff talked about the book and the main conflict takes place on a political spectrum making this a unique book to read. I look forward to reading Dune.

  41. I chose the book "Sick in the Head" by Judd Apatow. To be honest, I initially chose it because Mrs. Broadbent told me to, but I am really enjoying the book and I am glad I picked it. It is a very enjoyable book about Judd's lifetime experience with comedy. Judd has always wanted to work within that realm and really started getting involved in high school. In his junior year, he was interviewing Jerry Seinfield, trying to figure out how to become successful. You can tell his interviews paid off. I am excited to see what else comedy's greats have to offer!

  42. I am reading Champion by Marie Lu. It is the third book in a series that I never had the chance to finish until now. I have forgotten much about the other two books that lead up to this one, so I am a little confused, but I get much of it still. The book is in a split perspective between former criminal Day, and Princeps elect(basically a vice president) June Iparis. The two are madly in love with each other. Day acts as the voice of the poor people in the Republic who almost holds as much power as the Elector himself. He is not in a position of power, but everyone looks up to him and trusts him, and if they thought the Republic was trying to kill him, they would all revolt against their government. It is very interesting and really kept me reading further into the series.

    1. I hate when I forget what has happened in previous books in a series. This book sounds very interesting! Almost makes me think of the Hunger Games. Day also reminds me a bit of my main character in my book, Siddhartha. Everyone looks up to him and absolutely adores him.

  44. The book that I chose to read was A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. It is a book about an American ambulance driver on the Italian front. I choose the book because as I was looking through the list of suggested books that book caught my eye as something that I had heard of before and after reading about it I realized it would be a good fit for me. So far the book is pretty interesting, I like learning about WWI because I hadn't read much about it before.

  45. I chose the book Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. This book is about the journey of Buddha and how he became the Buddha we know today. This book has significance to me because I am Buddhist myself. This book starts of explaining Siddhartha's life and the beginning of his journey. It explains his excellence and how much he is loved by everyone in his hometown. This book is already so enlightening for it is so full of wisdom. I found this book because Mrs. Lex told me to read it. She had said that it had made her think of me. This book moves very quickly, but the way the words are written it is difficult to read. The phrases are a lot different to what I am used to reading. Although it is a bit of a challenge I absolutely love this book already! ~Cat Sears

    1. Katniss is a little like Day in my book. They both would risk anything to save their siblings. They both have to act as a parent to them because Day lost both his parents, and Katniss lost her father.

  50. I chose the book I Am A SEAL Team Six Warrior. I chose this book because I enjoy reading books about war. The title really stuck out to me so that is how I started reading it. It starts out right in the action. Howard Wasdin explains how he got involved with the war and about his childhood which was pretty rough. As of right now I am really enjoying my book.

    1. The main character in my book grew up in the poor regions of the capital while disease spreads among neighborhoods and in his own family. So his childhood was kind of rough as well. He never fought for a cause other than helping the poor, but now he is the face of a civil war.

  54. My book is called Please Stop Laughing At Me. I found it on Mrs. Broadbent's shelf and it really stood out to me. I read the back of it and knew I would like it. It is about this girl who is sitting in her car to go into a high school reunion. She has flashbacks starting from fourth grade all the way up. She was bullied every year; it is kind of like a cycle she makes friends then loses friends. it talks about all the struggles she goes through. It is really interesting to me and I like it a lot so far.

I wanted to find a book that was a perfect length and one that satisfied my interests. 57. The book I chose is called the Long Snapper. Its about a 38 year old teacher who has been given another chance at a football dream. The character, Brian, so far is trying to get a job with the Patriots to be their long snapper rest of the year. I chose this book because I like sports/football, and it looked like an interesting cover, a football player walking into the sunset. So far I have enjoyed this new book, it has pleased me already. The book starts out in Baton Rouge, where Brian is from, and his former agent calls him during teaching a class. I can't wait for the rest of the book, and hopefully the rest is great.

It is about two oil tankers off the coast of maine and a huge storm rolls through causing waves up to 70 feet! The two tankers split into two and now the Part I am on now is about rescuers heading out to see.
