Blog Response #9

Take a moment to describe the main character of your book.  Introduce him/her to the blog.  How do you envision him/her?  What physical characteristics does he/she possess?  What personality traits does he/she have?  What does he/she use for motivation in your book?  How does he/she interact with those around him/her? What does your main character add to the story?  If this person truly existed in your world, would you hang out with him/her?  Would you even like this person?

  1. The main character in my book is Percy Jackson. He is a around 17 and has adhd and dyslexia. He has dark black hair and blue eyes like the sea. He is a kid that cares about his friends and the world. He has put his life on the line for his friends and family. He uses his memory for his motivation. He wants to succeed on this quest so that he will get his memory back. He can sense when evil is around and can use the sea to his advantage. I would definitely hang out with Percy if he was in our world. He is a great main character.

  2. The main character of my book Stormbreaker is Alex Rider. I envision him as a very fit, well mannered, blonde hair kid. He is described in the book as being in very good shape and blonde hair. He has a very serious manner and doesn't joke around much. He is very well mannered and is a very smart boy. His motivation in the book is to keep his care take Jack Starbright in London and to get revenge on who killed his Uncle Ian Rider. He interacts with people in the book very seriously and is very straight forward with them. He adds to the story a lot because the entire story revolves around him. Without him in the book, the book would be completely different and boring. IF they truly existed, yes i would hang out with him. I would like Alex because he is very straight forward and very nice kid. He also has an adventurous and curious side to him.

  3. The main character in my book, Unbroken, is named Louie and they do a pretty good job of describing him in detail and they also have pictures of him in the book so I don't really have to do much envisioning. Hes an Italian looking dude with thick black hair and hes not that big but he is one hell of a runner. As a kid he was a little pos but as he grew up he became kind hearted and selfless. He hates running but he loves attention and applause so thats what he uses for motivation. Louie was a real person but he kicked the bucket back in 2014, but I can see myself hanging out with young Louie, he seems like a cool guy.

  4. The main character in Gentlemen is Micheal Benton. He doesn't like that his name is spelled wrong. I picture him short scrawny kid who does not apply him self. he has no motivation. His friends and him are always messing around. He adds murder to the story. I would not because he is very violent but if your friends with him he might be nice.

  5. In my book The Rookie Arrives Ted Bell is 19 years old and is playing baseball for the Kansas city Royals and you can tell that his maturity level and knowledge is not that of a professional ball player its more of a high school jock because he thinks he needs to be in on everything that the team does.He is a pretty built kid that has played sports his whole life. His personality is stuck up and I'm good enough to do anything that anyone else can do. He is motivated to prove himself so that way he can stay on the team and prove he is a valuable player. He tries to be friendly with his peers and fellow players but he says a lot of stuff that makes the other players not like him. I do not think I could be friends with this kid because he is really stuck up. I don't think i would like him.

  6. In Unbroken the main characters name is Louie Zamperini. They're picture of him within this book so I know what he looks like. He has big strong legs and arms to get him through the mileage. His personality is amazing he is such a hard worker and determined. he uses his mother as motivation to get him through the raft situation. He's kind and gets along with everyone pretty well. He adds he own story I feel like to the book. And I would love to talk to him about track and his workouts and stuff.

  7. He doesn't have a name, his son calls him papa and that is about it. I imagine him as a around 6 foot, scraggly bearded, gray greasy hair guy with a slight slouch. They don't give much details in the book about the characters. He is determined and is looking out for his son and wants them to survive for as long as possible. His motivation is his son and being able for his son to survive. He only cares about his son so everyone else that they meet he is cautious about. He keeps them alive and also sometimes risks them dying. I probably wouldn't because its an old dude. Probably, he seems like a cool dad.

  8. Jonas is the main character in The Giver. He was given the most important job in the community, the receiver. I envision Jonas as a few years younger than me. Maybe with black hair and blue eyes. He possesses traits of a caregiver, self-improved, and most important willing to see beyond. He uses his wanting to get away from "Sameness" as motivation. He tries to get people to see the way he does. He knows more and he wants other people in the community to experience it. He adds suspense to the book. When he starts to question everything, I wonder what he is going to do about it. I would befriend Jonas because he always more. He loves to experience new things. I would enjoy Jonas very much.

  10. I'm reading Perks of Being a Wallflower and Charlie is the main character and the whole book is told through his perspective. I see Charlie as a skinny kid with shaggy hair and green eyes. At first Charlie doesn't have a lot of friends and he doesn't try to interact with people. He is really passive and doesn't speak up when he sees something bad. I think Charlie uses his writing skills for motivation. I doubt that I would hang out with this person because we have different interest but I wouldn't dislike him because of it.

    1. Jodee in my book is also very quiet and doesn't have a lot of friends. Jodee though speaks up when she sees something bad, that is the main reasons she has no friends.

    2. Hannah in my book is as well quiet. The difference with her and your character Charlie is that Hannah speaks up for herself and calls people out on their bad actions.

    3. that's like the main character in my book I'm reading Greg doesn't have a lot of friends and doesn't try to interact that much with people specially school, he doesn't even go to the cafeteria to eat so you can see he want to keep a low profile in school

  11. The main character in Please Stop Laughing At Me, is Jodee. She is kind of tall with blonde hair. Her personality is quiet but yet she stands up for what she believes in. She only has a couple of friends and she only has those friends because they are also outcast. Every time she thinks she is in the "popular" group she gets pushed right back out. She gets pushed out because she doesn't believe in the way they bully other people and stands up for others because she knows what it is like to get bullied. Jodee adds a lot to the story because the whole book is her talking about her life as a victim of bullying. If she existed in our world I probably would be friends with her. She seems very nice and knows the difference between right and wrong from personal experiences.

  12. My book The Prince does not have a main character so I will just talk about the author Niccolo Machiavelli. Niccolo just prior to writing this book had lost his political power and that is his reason for writing this book. He is proving that he is still worthy to have power. I feel like Niccolo just thinks he is better than everyone else around him. If I met him in person I would actually really hate him. Would never want to be near him, I can't stand people that think they are better than everyone else.

  13. Hannah Baker is the main character in 13 Reasons Why. She was a shy, yet fun/outgoing person. Always just tried making new friends, but those friends changed on her. This made her personality become more bitter and unhappy. Hannah's motivation in this book was just wanting her peers to appreciate how important she was. How Hannah expresses her feeling on these tapes for the 13 certain people is how she adds to this story. Without her perspectives of what these people did to her, the story would end up being very boring. If Hannah exited in our world, I would have been friends with her to let her know that she had a purpose for living.

    1. I have watched the series of 13 Reasons Why and have been wanting to read the book. I feel like our characters have a lot in common. Jodee is very lonely and was depressed but her family helped her get out of that funk and she seems to be doing a little better.

    2. that so like the main character in my book how he doesn't want to make friends because of his appearance and maybe afraid of being made fun of but he also only cares about himself so technically its his fault too on his behalf.

  15. SO in Me And Earl And The Dying Girl the main character is Greg Gaines a high school senior who's seventeen lives in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and tries to ignore/ don't make friends with people and tries to keep a low profile. So I envision Greg has an extremely pale kid, somewhat overweight, has a rat looking face, squints a lot, mouth breather, snot on his face, average height. some of his personality traits is he like to avoid people don't like making friends, being in social groups, in the book when Greg found out an old friend of his has cancer and doesn't want to hang out with her and if she did recover from her cancer he said he would stop being friends with he, basically lacks in people skills. Greg doesn't really have motivation beside keeping a low profile and costing through high school. Greg doesn't like to interact with anybody specially a friend who is dying from cancer and doesn't want to be friends with her so his mom as to make him be friends with her. the only thing Greg adds to the story is its his point of view through everything by wrighting a paper a.k.a the book about what he went through. if Greg was a real person I wouldn't hang out with him considering how perverted he is and how he only cares about himself and not about other people I wouldn't even talk to him.

  16. In Fight Club the main character isn't given a name. I envision him as a skinny guy with droopy eyes from lack of sleep. I also envision lots of scars from fight club. His work life seems pretty dull, but his friend Tyler makes his personal life a lot more interesting. I think a lot of his motivation comes from wanting to sleep because he suffers from insomnia. For the most part he is a pretty nice guy except for the people he doesn't like. He is one of the co founders of fight club so that is what he adds to the world. I probably wouldn't hang out with him if he was real because he seem like the kind of person I wouldn't like.

  17. IN my book there isn't really a "main character" because its about two different search parties made up of 4 men so I mean it just follows those 8 people closely. These two groups are the rescue crews for the two tankers and they are on a difficult path to the tankers. All these people have the mindset of saving the people so they will stop at nothing to get it done. They all interact as a unit which means they get along and get stuff done. They add a ton of suspense to the story, and yes I would hang out with these guys if they were here today because they seem like positive people that I would want to be around.

  18. The main character in Night is Elie Wiesel. I see him as a skinny boy with his bones showing. He tries to keep to himself and to care for his father. 20. In my book, the main character is Marcus Luttrell. He is the "Lone Survivor." He is a Texan and that says a lot about him. He was raised to be respectful and courageous. At the age of 12 he was already putting in the work to be a Navy SEAL. He would train and train and never give up in any workout. In the main story he is a big guy, about 6'5" and 230 lbs. He toughs out all the SEAL training and had the mindset of either pass or die. Marcus Luttrell is a real person still alive, and if I ever met him, I would not know what to say except to thank him for his service. What he has done is truly quite amazing.

While at times Max would see hallucinations, he can be a caring teenager towards others. Max is also scared for himself and what he is capable of when he has hallucinations. Because of his mental illnesses Max does not always interact with others well most of the time. Max is the main point of the story. But he got cough up in the war and became a fighter pilot, that still respected the other pilots. He uses his brothers death for motivation for becoming a fighter pilot. Besides that he is a pretty nice and he doesn't join in when the rest of the officers are making fun of the priest and is friends with him. His main motivation is his girlfriend Catherine who he met during the war and she really helps him get through being wounded. He is going to a therapist and is gradually getting better. Caroline is the sister of another boy that was kidnapped by the same guy Ethan was. Caroline wishes to know what happened when her brother Dylan was gone. So the whole book is the journey through Ethan’s recovery and Caroline and his friendship. He grew up knowing that he was going to be the main provider for his family and the only way to be successful was hard work. I would definitely want to meet Carter. I feel that his personality is contagious and has an effect on others.

  34. In my book the main character is Melinda Sordino. She is a freshmen and is seen as an outcast at the school. She has brown hair and eyes, she likes to bite her lips when she's nervous. She doesn't really talk to anyone, she tries but it's hard to. She really doesn't have any motivation because of what happened at the end of summer party. She is just living day to day. I would like to be friends with her.

  36. I'm reading the book Girls We Love and so far it's a pretty good book! The main character is named Flan and she is one of the funniest characters I know. Flan is a little boy crazy, but she is really down to earth. I envision her being somewhat tall with perfect skin. Flan has brown hair and all the newest clothes. Personality wise she is really easy to connect with and a friend to mostly everybody. Since her parents aren't really in the picture anymore she lives everyday like it was her last. She doesn't want to end up like her parents. Flan makes the story flow, because without her we wouldn't have a story. If Flan was a real person I would for sure hang with her because in many ways, Flan and I are the same!

  37. Finley is the main character in my book. I envision her being really tall with long brown hair. Finley seems like an outgoing person because she came to London and met all these new people there and doesn't want to leave. She is strong because she is taking this break up well and is not giving in to going back to him. Finley, in the book is a person that is talkative and is always speaking her mind about anything. In the book she uses her friends as motivation because she listens to what they say she should do also she uses her sister too because she has her give her good advise. She is very involved with the people around her and get along with everyone she has met so far. The book resolves around her problem and that is what makes the book. I would hang out with her because she is an outgoing person that I could get along with. Some of the things she does I could see myself doing.

  38. My main characters name is Brian. He’s around 12 years old and skinny but strong willed. He’s smart and knowledgeable about how to survive on his own in the woods and knows how to take care of others in emergency situations. His motivation in this book went from just surviving to show others how he did it to saving a human life. He’s very quiet and keeps to himself most the time and is learning how to open up to others yet. I feel like he would be a great person to be friends.

    1. Do you think Brian will become more quiet and isolated after his experience in the wilderness.

    2. Brian is a lot like Howard in my book. He knows how to survive on his own when he is needed to. He is also kinda quiet like Howard is.

  39. The main character in the book Fablehaven is a 13 year old girl named Kendra. She makes the story interesting by being adventurous and searching the property. She starts the story a little hesitant not wanting to break the rules but soon wants to learn why her grandpa has the rules set. I think i would be friends with her in real life because she seems to be adventurous and a good friend with her brother.

  40. The main character in my book is the narrator, Judd. "Sick in the Head" is kind of interesting compared to most books due to the fact it is simply a recollection of interviews with comedians. The book is less plot and more dialogue, which isn't bad, but just different. Judd makes the book constantly interesting and exciting with not only his interview style, but his comments throughout about what he has learned about life thus far and what he has learned from other comedians. He keeps me reading and wanting more. I feel like I have personally met Chris Rock!

  41. Johnny is very curious, he always has to be either snooping around looking for new adventures. He meets a princess, and he becomes obsessed with her and wants everything to do with her. He does a favor for her and goes on an adventure to find her frog brother. If he finds him, then he gets to marry the princess. Which will be his pride and joy. He's obsessed, he wants to do everything in his power to make himself, the princess and his mom to be happy.

  42. The main character in the book of the outsiders is group of kids but i would say the main character of the book is pony boi. pony boi was the youngest in the group and reading the book to the end, the begging and the end starts with the same quote and turns out poni boi was thinking of what to write about.

  43. The main character in my book Dune is Paul Atreides. He is the son of Duke Leto. He is a hyper intelligent teen that has been trained since birth to fulfill a prophecy. I envision Paul as a young man whose eyes never miss a thing that happens. He is a very proud person and does not take orders he does not like easily. For instance his motivation throughout the book is to change the prophecy by keeping his father alive. He interacts with people the way I envisioned a person of nobility. He is logical about what he says but there is at hint of command in it. If he existed in real life I would not hang out with him because I would fear him. Whenever I saw him I would think that this is a person that could hurt me in ways I can't understand.

  44. In the book Running Loose, the main character is Louie. Louie is a teenage boy who is a senior in high school. Louie enjoys playing sports and working at his family's service station. I imagine him tall and muscular. His personality shows that he always does things his way no matter what the other people in his life think.

  45. Daniel Altan Wing, known mostly as Day, is in his early 20's and is an unofficial face of what used to be America. He is committed to everything he does, and he uses his family as motivation to help the poor and the sick. He would do anything to protect his family, but wasn't able to do enough. After he and his brother are alone, he does everything he can to not let any harm be done to his brother who is almost blind because of a plague that he survived, even letting the government experiment on him to search for a cure. He would be great to know as a friend, as he would do anything for the loved ones in his life.

  46. Ender is not described physically in the the book much at all, apart from the fact that he is smaller than everyone else. as far as personality however, he is a cold, calculating strategic genius. Literally everything he does is part of a strategy. His motivation is derived from the threat of an alien invasion. He knows that he neccessary for the human race to thwart it, so he perseveres through everything. I would love to hang out with him, but I think he would find me frustrating to be around.

    1. Paul in my book is very similar to Ender. They are both young geniuses born into something larger than them. The one thing I can find different is he is not cold and calculating. He is definitely calculating but he lets his emotions guide him as well. To better explain he cares a lot about his family and if someone hurts them he will get mad and calculate a way to defeat the person.

  47. The main character of my book is called Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo is 4'1 very hairy, chubby, and very sneaky. Bilbo likes to be at home or with friends and family, and likes to eat a bunch of food. If he Bilbo was real I would probably talk to him because he has a crazy story to tell.

  48. The main character in my book is Howard Wasdin. He is a tough guy who can go through nearly anything. He is definitely in good shape. He is kind of an inquisitive person. He also doesn't let a lot of things get to him either. Howard motivates himself by thinking about his past. He wants to prove to his step-dad that he bis strong and can handle himself. His bad childhood memories made him become who he is. I would definitely want to try and hang out and talk to Howard if it was possible. I feel like there is so much I could learn from him.

  49. My book is The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, and my main character's name is Arthur. I envision Arthur to be an average working class guy just trying to live his life out normally. When earth gets invaded by the Vogons he pretty much has no idea what to do. He turns into a lost puppy only knowing to follow Ford to find out what to do. His only true motivation so far is staying alive, and I feel like that will be the way it stays for a while.

  50. derrick is the main character in my story. he is a navy seal. He is part of seal team 4. in the book he does not talk a whole lot about what it takes to be a seal. its mostly how to due basic stuff in life like change a tire light a camp fire how to shoot a gun and many more. He teaches you that if you are ever lost in the timber Derrick will explain how to get out of there or how to survive out there for many days

  51. I'm reading the Long Snapper, and the main character in my book name is Brian. Brian is a 38 year old teacher who wants another shot at the NFL. I envision him as a jacked guy, but also a very caring and nice since he teaches at a Baptist school. He has good traits, people look up to him. His motivation was just to teach his 7th grade class, but now he has a bigger one, winning a Superbowl. The main character adds a lot to this story, without him who knows, maybe the Patriots never actually win the Superbowl. I would definitely like to hang out with Brian, he is just overall a cool guy. I would like be his friend too, he just seems really down-to earth and always nice like I just said.

  52. I am reading the book Dawn and the main character in the book is Elie. In this book he is going through a lot of pain mentally and psychically because this book is taking place during the Holocaust. I envision this character as a weak, very skinny, and on him he would have a lot of bumps and bruises. Elie personality is very mellow and does not do or say much so that he can stay alive. A think a motivation in this book is simply just to stay alive. He doesn’t really interact with the people around him. He like notices them and talks to them when needed but other than that not really. Elie creates the story because he is telling his story through this book. I don’t think I would hang out with him because it would be strange. I would like him though and I think it would be really cool to hear his story from him.
